Kindergarten Programs

Recommended age 2.5 years

Max 4 pupils per class / Duration 30 minutes

The Kindergarten class is a fun, deep water, survival skill class for toddlers to children from the age of 2 ½ to 4 years of age. The Kindergarten swimming lessons provide young swimmers with skills, which encourage them to become strong, safe and confident in the water in a comfortable and encouraging environment.

There are two levels within the Kindergarten program, Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2. In Kindergarten 1 lessons, the focus on is on movement through the water using a special under-arm developed stroke. We want our Kindergarten 1 swimmers feeling relaxed and happy in the water. There are also other skills taught in this class including blowing bubbles, submerging and floating. Merit awards and certificates are awarded on completion of skills, and certain skills need to be attained before the swimmer is allowed to move into our Kindergarten 2 class.

In the Kindergarten 2 lessons, swimmers are still being taught a special under-arm developed stroke which will lead to a full Freestyle stroke in our "400 Gold" program. However, the main difference in these lessons is that they will be encouraged to have their face in the water for a majority of the time, blowing bubbles when swimming either on or off the board. They will also be extended to swim greater distance without their floaties and start developing the "torpedo" skill which gets them into a more horizontal position in the water which is needed for further stroke development in the next class up in our "400 Gold" program.
